radical care.
Metta means loving-kindness in Pali: ancient, and mostly misunderstood. In its truest sense it is boundless goodwill that doesn't flinch from hard truths or look away from harm. Tender, and unflinching.
mettaworks is where strategy, therapy and transformative practice meet – in service of change that is both personal and systemic.
about milhara
I traverse many different worlds: I am a social worker, a therapist, an advocate, a facilitator, a social outcomes and sustainability consultant, a board member, a poet and writer.
I am passionate about using all the privileges I have to shape the world around me to be more beneficial, loving and kind – and supporting others to do the same.
I came to this work the long way around, and each room I moved through taught me something the one before it couldn't. I do this work because I needed it once, and couldn't always find it – a practitioner or consultant who sees your needs from the inside, who holds your complexity without flattening it, and meets it with curiosity. That is what I try to be.
I live and work on unceded First Nations lands – not as a footnote but as an orientation. I believe in a just and equal world, not as a distant hope but as the only acceptable direction of travel.
If you are looking for someone who will meet you where you are, tell you the truth gently, and walk alongside you without flinching – I think we will understand each other.
Reach out for a yarn.
